What are the Benefits of LASIK Surgery?

What is Recovery and Post Op. Care after LASIK surgery?

  1. After the surgery, vision improves quickly, but it won’t be a complete recovery. It takes about 2 to 3 months after surgery for the wound to heal and complete recovery of the vision.
  2. You will be prescribed to use topical antibiotics and steroids after the surgery for 3-7 days to prevent infection and inflammation as your eyes may feel gritty, itchy, watery, or have a burning sensation.
  3. Use of dark eyeglasses for 1-7 days to protect eyes from bright lights 
  4. Use of protective goggles to prevent rubbing of the eyes during sleep or while taking shower.
  5. Eye drops are prescribed to reduce dry eyes and pain medication like ibuprofen to relieve the pain.
  6. No swimming or use of a hot tub should be done for 2 weeks after surgery.
  7. You will be examined 1 day after surgery to ensure that the flap has remained in the proper position and that there is no inflammation or infection.
  8. In case of no further complications, the next visits are typically scheduled at approximately 1 month, 3 months, 6 months, and 12 months postoperatively.
